Moti Magri – The Maharana Pratap Memorial
Moti Magri is a place situated on a hill on the side of lake Fateh Sagar, It is also a good place in Udaipur to visit. On the top of hill, is the Statue of Maharana Pratap. Maharana pratap was one of the greatest ruler of Mewar born in Kumbhalgarh fort. Moti magri also features a museum along with statues of the great warriors of Mewar. The hill on which Moti Magri is situated is also known as Pearl Hill.
History of the Place
Maharana Pratap stood in front of Mughals till his last breath and fought very bravely. His horse named Chetak, very loyal to Maharana Pratap also tried to save his master till his end.
Information about the Place
The statue of Maharana Pratap is made of bronze. The statue shows the great Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap and his loyal horse Chetak. It is said it was much heavy even for the train at that time to pull it. The hill is known as Pearl Hill and a very few know the particular name of the hill. The Whole area, i.e. the hill is well maintained into a beautiful garden and from many places of the hill, a beautiful view of the Fateh Sagar lake can be seen.
Light and Sound show
Light and sound show which tells the glories past can be enjoyed in the evening at the Place. Photography is good at the place as it stands out form the surrounding Fateh Sagar lake and gives a nice sunset view too. Vehicle accessibility is good to the place and you can take your car till the top. The place is bigger in size so to visit the whole place you need a couple of hours if travelling by foot. Don’t forget to carry a hat and a water bottle if its summer !
